Before joining the Mad Ants in 2019, Dr. Sato’s most recent work experience includes eight years (6 years full time/2 years as a graduate assistant) as the Head Licensed Athletic Trainer for The University of Toledo Medical Center: St. John’s Jesuit High School in Toledo, Ohio. In this role she worked as a first responder to athletic injuries during practices and games and provided evaluation, treatment and rehab for athletes including collaborating with team physicians.

Ayami has extensive clinical, hands-on teaching, research and volunteer experience. She was Curriculum Student Physical Therapist for the Oklahoma City Blue providing evaluations, daily treatments and rehab for the professional basketball players. She also spent time doing clinical work at the Cleveland Clinic, Miami Valley Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital. Ayami interned with the Detroit Shock and the Toshiba Brave Thunders in Japan’s Men’s Basketball League.

Ayami has her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Athletic Training from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and went on to get her Master of Exercise Science in Athletic Training at the University of Toledo.

She attended the University of Dayton where she received her Doctor of Physical Therapy. She received the Outstanding Performance in Student Research Award and the Student Achievement Award with overall excellence in academics, clinical performance, scholarship and service after pursuing her Doctor of Physical Therapy at the University of Dayton.
