Indiana Pacers sign Alex Poythress

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Pacers announced today they have signed forward Alex Poythress, who played six games this season for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, presented by Lutheran Health Network. Per team policy, contract terms were not revealed.

In the six games with the Mad Ants, Poythress averaged 20.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 33.4 minutes per game. The 6-foot-8 forward compiled four double-double performances this season, including 30 points and 13 rebounds on Dec. 6 at Westchester in a 116-104 win.

The University of Kentucky standout signed a two-way contract on Aug. 22.

Last year, Poythress averaged 18.5 points and 7.1 rebounds in 46 games with the Mad Ants and was named a G League All-Star.

Poythress has played in 11 games this season with the Pacers and also appeared in six games with the Philadelphia 76ers to end the 2016-17 season.

Rookie guard Edmond Sumner remains the only two-way player currently under contract with the Indiana Pacers.

The Mad Ants take on the Erie Bayhawks tonight in Erie, Pa. and then host the Grand Rapids Drive Saturday night at 7 p.m. ET.
