FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Fort Wayne Mad Ants, presented by Lutheran Health Network, the NBA G League affiliate of the Indiana Pacers, announced today the addition of forward Skylar Spencer via the Available Player Pool.
Spencer will join Fort Wayne after spending the 2016-17 season with the Westports Malaysia Dragons of the Association of South East Nations (ASEAN). In 20 games, Spencer averaged 16.2 points and 14.3 rebounds per game.
The 6-foot-9 forward played four seasons at San Diego State University from 2012-16. The Inglewood, Calif. native started 102 of 144 career games for the Aztecs averaging 3.8 points and 4.5 rebounds. Spencer’s name is remembered on the defensive end as the current all-time Mountain West Conference and SDSU leader in blocked shots, finishing his career with 303 blocks.
In three of his four seasons, the Aztecs ranked among the top three nationally in points allowed per game and led the nation in field goal percentage defense (.373) his senior season.
A two-time Mountain West defensive player of the year, Spencer also holds the record for the most wins in San Diego State history with 109.
In conjunction, Fort Wayne released center Adam Woodbury, who averaged 3.3 points in four games played with the Mad Ants this season.
The Mad Ants play three more games on the current homestand, including tonight’s matchup with the Canton Charge. Tip is set for 7 p.m. ET at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
